The Uni-days series-2
Hello fellow readers!
Hope you all are happy and healthy!
To begin with,I'm actually glad that my pace of writing and posting blogs is gearing up! I'm hoping that you guys are also happy to get to read these kinda entertaining blogs (If you aren't, we aren't friends bro! Drumrolls!! Jk😂) Keep reading...
Freshers party is a common thing in any institution right. Same with my Uni too. I'm going to tell you, what uncommon happened here and how I really enjoyed it. (If my fellow batchmates are reading this, they'll be really surprised with me liking it because I didn't understand a single sentence properly 😅)Anyway, all the students here have an association...a proper association for making an extremely constructive study time table, following it with all the dedication, giving competitive exams and subsequently grabbing the white collar jobs. I'll take a minute to tell how punctual they are.I guess the primary rule is to transform yourself into an early riser! I remember this particular incident when my roommate wasn't willing to get up early that particular day and was still dozing off on the bed. There was a loud thud on the opened door,a senior walking in, asking my roommate as to why she wasn't ready and reading by that time and asked her to meet her in the evening! I thought by seeing these situations on a daily basis, they've started coming in my dreams too😂Shukar karo sapna nahi tha! (Fortunately, it wasn't a dream, but an actual incident).
So yeah, freshers party na..... We're told to prepare an act, song or anything to showcase our talents along with our official introduction. Also, I forgot to mention that this welcome was from the association here, so it had to be very official, classy and proper! I'll explain what it meant. In the morning we had a motivational lecture itseems (I didn't go because "Mujhe marathi nahi aathi hein bhaiiii") The afternoon session began with a proper hindustani bhajan with seniors accompanying on the harmonium and tabla...I thoroughly enjoyed it! (Inside talks - I also want to play the harmonium badly... I do it on the mobile app but on the stage with the spotlight on,one hand moving the belo and the other on the notes is another feel right!!) Seniors have worked really hard to enact an entirely new play introducing all the departments and the juniors. Kudos to their laajawaab efforts! But, but.... Everything was in marathi and it was like a spanish film with no subtitles! My batchmate was trying her best to translate everything but Pushpa dialogue hindi lo vinnatuga undindi....ardamayyi avvanattu😅
When our turn came, I reluctantly went on stage. I'm basically a person with low to no stage fear, but here I was a little extra conscious to be on stage probably because of the atmosphere which was very new to me. I forgot to mention that shouting, yelling or whistling was strictly not allowed in the auditorium. So when one bhaiyya was singing very well, one person from the crowd whistled. The whistle's sound didn't even disperse from the back seats to the front, 15 students dressed in white shining formals abruptly stood up and were in search of the student who whistled to warn him! Devudaaa was my reaction (Allu arjun dialogue le) Then I was just imagining if people from my UG college being here😂All of them would be sent out within 5 minutes of the program starting (lekapothe ah whistles enti, ah comments enti, ah hungama enti 😂)
Yeah back to the mainstory where I was nicely sitting on the dias along with 9 of my batchmates with my intro done. It was the time to perform and I was supposed to sing. Before going on stage, we've got instructions to avoid carrying mobile phones on stage. I have a really bad habit of forgetting lyrics while singing. My music teacher would always scold me for either singing wrong lyrics or forgetting them. Hence this time, I wrote them on a small paper almost invisible and carried it.Micro xerox laanti habits levamma manaki😅 (Non-telugu speakers- It means I'm a good girl😂) In my nervousness, that paper almost crumbled. Then this thought helped me.... I was anyway going to sing a song in telugu... Not even 2 percent of the crowd understands it, so why sound under- confident?😂 I've given a good number of singing performances but never sang bollywood songs. This was my first time singing a movie song in the genre which I don't prefer. The view from the dias's side and my feelings were on contrast! The bgm turned on, I starting singing....as soon as I switched to the telugu version,I could see some of the eyes excited, ears adoring the music, resulting in everyone clapping en masse! This made all my mental heaviness vanish in a second. Phew! I heaved a sign of relief. That's my first beautiful experience of singing in this college! A friend of mine took a video when I was singing but now I'm really sceptical on sharing it on my social media because bro! I came to know later that videography mana tha! Vaallani kaadu ani adi ekkadaina pettaanooo, bgm meeru veskondi inka😂
That's it for today. Hope you guys enjoyed reading. Btw I wasn't flaunting anything in this blog okayyy. I feel it's an art to make the reader visualise everything I experience with crystal clarity and I'm gradually setting higher benchmarks (That's what some of my dear readers have told me🤍) You guys play an important role in it too.... Thank you for that!
Until I come up with another post, Khuda hafiz!
Stay happy! Stay healthy
Sharwani.
